It was around 5:00pm that I got the call from Lance and Angelia. They had been having contractions for most of the day but they had died off so they weren’t sure if this was “it” or not but they wanted to just keep me in the loop, just in case. Being on call, I had my camera on me all the time so I was ready whenever they needed me. A little after 9:00pm, Lance called. It was time! I changed real fast and headed straight over to their house. I got there about 9:45, Stephanie the Doula and Kim the Midwife got there only 10 or 15 minutes before I did. Angelia was amazing, working through her contractions.

Soon after, Angelia got into the water. Lance was right there, being so supportive to her, helping her get through the intense contractions.

Stephanie was there, saying words of encouragement and being wonderful support for not just Angelia, but for Lance too. I highly recommend hiring a Doula for your birth, whether at home OR in a hospital. They provide such emotional and physical support to help through the birthing process for both parents.

And then he was here! Felix Dayo was born at 10:09pm. He was born only 25 minutes after I arrived and Angelia had only been in active labor for about 90 minutes. I love the looks of love and wonderment in their eyes as they meet their son for the first time.
